Dental Bridges

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth and restore the function to your dentition. . A dental bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap. These two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth and the false tooth in between is called pontic. Dental bridges can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.

Patients who have missing teeth tend to avoid the side of their mouth with missing teeth and favor the other side. This will put extra stress on that side of the mouth and as a result jeopardizes the health and longevity of their entire dentition. If the missing teeth are not replaced, over time, adjacent and opposing teeth will move into that space and eventually the entire balance, equilibrium and function of one's dentition will be compromised causing sensitivity to temperature, dental pain and fractured teeth.
